What if I told you one person and one guitar could fill a whole room? Marisa Anderson did exactly that. I keep coming back to the Green Room to discover new artists and this was one of those nights that reminds me why. First time seeing Marisa live and I walked out a fan which admittedly I should have been before the show.

Just her and a guitar, no vocals, no band. Portland based and classically trained, she combines folk, country, gospel, and blues into these fluid improvised pieces that feel both ancient and brand new.

Cool connection here too. Marisa recorded a track with pedal steel player Luke Schneider, who I photographed at an unforgettable First Congregational Church show not long ago. Same beautiful headspace, worth a look if you missed it.

Small but devoted crowd and the intimate Green Room setup made for some great photographs. Nights like this are exactly why I keep showing up. Enjoy!
