Daikaiju is an instrumental surf punk band from Huntsville, Alabama who perform in masks and the crowd loves them! They set up in the middle of the floor with the crowd surrounding them on all sides which tells you everything you need to know about the kind of show this was going to be. I started in the front row and got moved by the band for not dancing hard enough. Fair enough honestly I found it pretty funny. The youths kept pouring in and the energy kept building. At some point they set the drums and guitars on fire seemingly trying to summon something. Then they got on the bar. Then they handed their instruments to people in the crowd. At some point they motioned to me and the videographer there to get some awesome selfies with the fans. That's the header photo. Growlers is the old Hi-Tone space and it had been a while since I'd been in there. I saw so many great bands in that room back in the day. Daikaiju was one of the most unique shows I've ever photographed. Enjoy!
