I first caught India Ramey opening for another band at Hernando's a while back and barely made it in time to catch the tail end of her set. Knew right away I had made a mistake. Lesson learned – never sleep on the opener. So when I found out she was coming back I made sure to be there from the start. Nashville based and self described as Gothy Tonk, India Ramey is the real deal. The stage presence, the energy, the fringe – all of it. Funny and engaging between songs too which always endears an artist to a crowd.
The band was tight and a special shoutout to pedal steel player Adam "Ditch" Kurtz who is also a Democratic candidate for Governor of Tennessee. Only in Memphis do you get that on a Wednesday night. Hernando's is always a great place to photograph and this was no exception. Enjoy!
